Vince Tramonte was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1970 and to the District of Columbia Bar in 1972; Mr. Tramonte is currently licensed to practice in both jurisdictions. He received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1967 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1970. Mr. Tramonte specializes in the negotiation and preparation of land purchase and sale agreements; handling development matters; real estate financing including commercial and residential acquisitions; construction and development loans; and commercial and residential purchases and sales.
Mr. Tramonte began his legal career as an Associate with a prominent Northern Virginia law firm specializing in real estate transactions, development law, and personal injury and real estate litigation. His duties included responsibility for title examinations, clearing title defects, conducting real estate transactions and assisting trial counsel in preparing for and conducting civil trials. In 1971, Mr. Tramonte was appointed as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for Arlington County, Virginia. During his three year tenure, Mr. Tramonte handled the prosecution of thousands of misdemeanors and hundreds of felonies, including jury trials of several capital cases. Mr. Tramonte was given the responsibility for the prosecution of Vietnam War protesters arrested in Washington D.C. in 1972. He selectively quickly dismissed the charges against non-violent, peaceful protesters and vigorously prosecuted those who had resorted to violence. Arlington County was given high praise for its efficient and prudent handling of these prosecutions. After leaving the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in 1973, Mr. Tramonte and Mr. Gregory Haight founded the firm now known as Haight, Tramonte, Yeonas & Roberts, P.C.
Mr. Tramonte also founded Premier Title, Inc., which provides residential and commercial settlement services in Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland. Premier Title has handled close to 70,000 transactions of all types, from simple house closings to complicated credit facilities well in excess of $100,000,000.00. Mr. Tramonte’s knowledge of title, closing, and other transactional issues is enhanced by his involvement with Premier Title.
Mr. Tramonte has extensive experience with a wide variety of development issues. He has personally developed approximately 1,000 units through approval of entitlements and plan approvals into approximately 200 finished lots. In his legal capacity, Mr. Tramonte has represented several national residential builders and developers as well as local builders and developers in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Mr. Tramonte has provided representation for clients in the development of many thousands of residential units ranging from single family detached projects to high density condominiums and apartments. These projects have included major mixed-use developments with residential, retail, and commercial components.
Mr. Tramonte is admitted to practice in Virginia and in the District of Columbia. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Fairfax Bar Association. Mr. Tramonte was also a member of the original board of directors of a McLean, Virginia community bank (Bank First) founded by local businessmen to serve Northern Virginia. As a result of the bank’s growth and success, it merged with United Bank in the 1990s. Mr. Tramonte, who served on United Bank’s board until 2001, was on the team that negotiated the successful merger of Bank First with United Bank. Mr. Tramonte’s experience as a banker has provided him with an appreciation for banking and finance issues, which enhances his legal representation of both lending institutions and borrowers in business loans and real estate transactions. In 2008, Virginia Business Magazine named Mr. Tramonte one of Virginia’s Elite Attorneys in the field of real estate law.
